A consistent mentoring relationship that helps young people build confidence, develop practical skills and work towards personal, educational and employment goals.
Mentoring provides a reliable relationship in which a young person can explore goals, practise skills and reflect on decisions. Activities are chosen with the young person and may take place in appropriate community settings. Contact boundaries, transport and outings are agreed in advance. Mentoring is distinct from counselling and statutory youth justice supervision; concerns requiring specialist support are discussed and referred through the appropriate pathway.
Young people who would benefit from structured mentoring, including those experiencing social isolation, educational disengagement or significant life transitions. The age range and referral criteria are confirmed at enquiry.
