Mental Health & Families

Men’s Behaviour Change Program

A specialist intervention pathway focused on accountability, safety and changing behaviours associated with family or domestic violence.

The program focuses on responsibility for behaviour and the safety of people affected by violence. It uses an appropriate specialist intervention model, with assessment, trained facilitators and ongoing risk review. Victim-survivor support is arranged separately from the perpetrator’s sessions. Participation does not guarantee that violence will stop or that a relationship will continue. The available program or referral pathway is explained before an enrolment decision is made.

Support may include

  • Assessment by an appropriate specialist service
  • Structured behaviour-change intervention where suitable
  • Attention to responsibility, relationships and harmful patterns
  • Coordination within a service model that prioritises victim-survivor safety
