Answers to the questions we hear most often about referrals, NDIS
funding, and Positive Behaviour Support.
Do I need an NDIS plan?
Positive Behaviour Support is typically funded through the NDIS, so
having an NDIS plan with the relevant supports is usually required.
If you're unsure about your plan, we're happy to help you check
whether the funding is available.
Who can refer?
Referrals can come from the participant themselves, a family member
or carer, a support coordinator, a plan manager, an allied health
professional, or a support provider. Visit our
referral page
for the full details.
What is Positive Behaviour Support?
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred, human-rights
based framework that seeks to understand the function of a behaviour
and what it is communicating. It focuses on improving quality of
life, meaningful participation, and reducing or removing restrictive
practices.
How is behaviour support funded?
Behaviour support is usually funded under the Improved Relationships
support category in an NDIS plan, often described as specialist
behaviour intervention support. Funding is arranged according to
each person's individual plan and the supports approved by the NDIS.
