Restorative Practice and Family Mediation

Structured support for dialogue and dispute resolution where participation is voluntary and the process is appropriate for those involved.

A facilitated process creates an opportunity to clarify concerns, consider possible solutions and discuss agreements where participation is voluntary and suitable. Screening takes place before a joint session and continues as circumstances change. Restorative practice and family dispute resolution are described separately so that clients understand the type of process offered. Where accredited family dispute resolution is needed, it is delivered by a practitioner authorised for that work.

Support may include

  • Initial suitability and safety screening
  • Clarifying concerns, needs and possible agreements
  • Facilitated discussions within the practitioner’s scope
  • Referral to accredited family dispute resolution where required
